WHOLISTIC HEALTH PRACTITIONER CURRICULUM (1150 hours)
Wholistic Massage Therapy Program Curriculum (650 hours) - The first five and one half months of the Wholistic Health Practitioner Program is the Wholistic Massage Therapy Program. (WMT101 - WMT114)
Wholistic Health (380 hours) - Through the information and personal experience gained in this class, students acquire the knowledge necessary to educate their clients about the principles of Wholistic Health and to create Wholistic cleansing and rejuvenations programs designed to fit each clients specific needs and goals. Healing from Within, by creating a state of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual balance, is the foundation upon which these classes are built. Students come to understand that as Wholistic Health Practitioners, they can give healing energy only to the extent that they have healed themselves. The following series of classes are designed not only to teach students about these fundamental healing principles but also to provide them with personal experience they can use to create wholistic health programs for their clients. The three hundred and eighty hours include the following:
Mind (60 hours) - Students participate in group discussions on the Universal Concepts of life. The concepts that we are raised with do not always serve us as adults. Students rethink their understanding of marriage, relationships, parenting, work, money, health, family, etc (20 hours). A written term paper is required and is comprised of written assignments that are turned in and evaluated. This paper provides students with the opportunity to clarify their own Universal Concepts (40 hours). (WHP102)
Body (230 hours) - Students take a more in-depth look at how the body functions as we work towards creating optimal health. Each topic presented describes different healing modalities used and the associated physiologic changes and affects of that technique. Specific topics include:
- Nutrition (40 hours)
- Exercise Physiology (30 hours)
- Body Balance (20 hours)
- Aromatherapy (10 hours)
- Herbology (20 hours)
- Elimination (20 hours)
- Natural Skin Care (10 hours)
- Holistic Iridology (10 hours)
- Raw Live Food Preparation (40 hours)
- Alternative Health: Special Topics (30 hours) Students research an instructor-approved topic, write a paper, and present their findings to the class. Topics may include homeopathy, researching a specific herb or nutritional supplement, a bodywork technique, etc. (WHP103)
Spirit (40 hours) - Students find balance and connect with their own internal healing energies. This enhances the students capacity to focus, stay grounded and give healing energy to their clients. (WHP104) Classes include:
- Yoga (20 hours)
- Relaxation/Meditation (20 hours) .
Emotions (20 hours) - Students participate in Group and Personal Dynamics, a group session where problems of an emotional nature are discussed. The sources of the problems are identified and solutions are presented. Students learn to identify the emotional intellect versus intelligent intellect, gain a more profound understanding of the emotional basis of dis-ease and learn principles and techniques for healing the child within. Student Intern Clinic (90 hours) This is an opportunity for students to integrate the information learned in class into Wholistic cleansing and rejuvenation programs for their clients. Working with the public provides them with the real-life experience needed to gain confidence in their skills. All aspects of running a clinic including working with clients, preparation of client forms, client intake, client follow-up, bookkeeping, record keeping, scheduling, etc. are presented. Students learn the art of preparing programs that are tailored to meet the specific needs and capabilities of each client. (WHP106)
Business Management and Ethics (10 hours) Includes information on the business, legal, and ethical aspects of educating and preparing client programs as a Wholistic Health Practitioner. American Medical Association and American Dietetic Association laws are discussed as students learn to work with clients using the proper educational and consultative framework in which they have been trained. Wholistic versus Holistic?
Aristotle's phrase the whole is more than the sum of its parts was coined holistic holos meaning all, entire, total.
We use the English word wholistic to include mind, body, spirit,
emotion, lifestyle and physical/social environment as interdependent
parts of the whole person.
